HEALING THROUGH THE ARTS / CALL FOR ARTISTS

A 12 x 12 Small Works Exhibition on Mental Health

Juried by Sergio Gomez

Call for Artists: Healing Through the Arts (12 x 12)

An Exhibition Within A Whisper 2 A Scream

The OH Art Foundation invites artists to submit works for Healing Through the Arts, a special wall installation curated by Sergio Gomez. This collection of 12 x 12-inch artworks will accompany A Whisper 2 A Scream, a two-person exhibition by artists Caren Helene Rudman and Kelly Mathews, on view at the OH Art Foundation, 2nd floor of the Zhou B Art Center.

About the Exhibition

A Whisper 2 A Scream tells the parallel stories of inherited cancers through the BRCA gene and the struggles of mental illness and addiction—two journeys bound by an intrinsic connection. Both manifest as battles of survival, where physical illness fuels emotional trauma, and mental suffering leads to physical consequences.

Through the power of art, two women find healing, exemplifying the transformative impact of Neuroarts—the interdisciplinary study of how artistic expression influences the brain, body, and behavior to foster well-being.

Healing Through the Arts: Open Call for Artists

We invite artists to contribute to this dialogue by submitting 12 x 12-inch artworks that explore the deep interconnection between mind and body, health and disease. As awareness of mental health grows and the post-pandemic world reveals the fragility of physical well-being, this exhibition embraces the idea that from darkness emerges light and creativity.
